Making private money understandable
Private lending moves billions of dollars a year, yet most borrowers and individual lenders go in without clear pricing, clear math or clear warnings. We're here to change that.
Our mission
Private.Money is an independent educational publication and referral service covering private money and hard money lending, real estate investor financing and private credit. Our goal is simple: help borrowers get fairly priced capital and help individuals lend more safely, with free tools, plain-English guides and honest disclosures.
What we do
- Educate: in-depth guides, a 60+ term glossary and a curated video library.
- Equip: six free calculators covering flips, loan cost, DSCR, BRRRR, maximum offer and lender yield.
- Connect: a free request form that passes borrower scenarios to private lenders and brokers whose programs fit.
- Community: skill-based contests, a supporter program and paid opportunities for contributors.
What we are not
We are not a lender, mortgage broker, loan servicer, investment adviser, broker-dealer or funding portal. We don't make credit decisions, set rates, hold funds or sell securities. Information on this site is general education, not personal financial, legal or tax advice.
How we make money
We believe you should know how a free site pays its bills:
- Advertising: Google AdSense and clearly labeled sponsorships.
- Partner fees: lenders and brokers in our partner network may pay for introductions or placement, where permitted by law.
- Reader support: voluntary contributions from readers and patrons.
None of these affect our calculator math or editorial conclusions. Sponsored content is always labeled.
Editorial standards
- Sourced: rate and term ranges come from publicly available lender program pages, regulator publications and major comparison guides, and we date them.
- Reviewed: guides are reviewed for accuracy before publication and on a regular refresh schedule.
- Balanced: every strategy article covers risks and alternatives, not just upside.
- Corrected: found an error? Tell us. We fix confirmed errors promptly and note material updates.
